The following article describes the process to install Visure Requirements 5.2 version from scratch in a Windows Server environment and configure it to use SQL Server database. At the end of the article, we will explain how to publish Visure Requirements as an application that users can connect through a URL.
Step 1
The first thing we need to do (in case SQL Server Express is not yet installed) is download SQL Server Express edition and the SQL Server Management Studio from the following link and follow the installation wizard to install it:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-editions-express
SQL Server Management Studio can be downloaded from the following link:
NOTE: By default only windows authentication is enabled on MS SQL Server, for allowing SQL users authentication you should:
1-Open SQL Server Management Studio.
2-In the Object Explorer, right-click the server, and then click Properties.
3-On the Security page, under Server authentication, select SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode, and then click OK.
Step 2
Next, we will create the Visure database (we recommend creating 2 datafiles for better performance, one for data and another for indexes) and a dedicated user with required privileges over the database; check the following video describing the process:
https://www.youtube.
Step 3
Then we will configure database maintenance for a better performance, depending on the database server edition you should check one of these options:
SQL Server Express: https://visuresolutions.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021429353-How-can-automate-the-SQL-Server-Express-database-maintenance
SQL Server Standard: https://visuresolutions.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008592794-How-can-automate-the-SQL-Server-database-maintenance
Step 4
Once the database is created, we will download and install Visure Requirements on the server. Visure installers are available in the community download area:
https://visuresolutions.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/115001376547-Visure-Downloads
In case of floating licenses, we will need to install Visure License Server and register a floating key as shown in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVPVZ-QGl5M
And then install Visure Requirements in floating mode connecting to the license server, as shown in the following video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esio6GpHWc0
Step 5
Once Visure Requirements is installed and registered, let´s create Visure Database with the SQL user/DB, in this case, we will create a System DSN so that it is accessible to all users connecting to the server:

If you are facing connection issues to the database server, please check the following troubleshooting article:
https://visuresolutions.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008269873-Problem-connecting-to-SQL-Server
Step 6
Install Visure Report Manager
See the following video showing how to install Visure Report Manager:
If you have any issue with . NET framework please check the following article showing how to enable the required versions of .NET Framework:
Step 7
Install Visure Word Import
Step 8
Download Go-global and install (link below).
Go global is Visure Web app that allows Visure to be accessible from other PCs through a connection link via web browser.
Go Global requires Internet Information Services to be enabled on the host server:
- Open Control Panel and click Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.
- Enable Internet Information Services.
- Expand the Internet Information Services feature and verify that the web server components listed below are enabled.
- Click OK.
