Importing to Visure from Excel will be explained with an example table as below;
The table contains 5 items and 5 columns as Code, Name, Description, Expected Results and Traceability. We would like to import 5 "System Test" items, and we want them to have traceability links between "System Requirements".
First, the table should be chosen by mouse.
After clicking on the Visure Add-in, two options will appear; we will use "By Columns" for the table above. For further information, please check the User Manual which can be found at the bottom of the page (please click on the question mark ?).
Here we do the attribute mapping between Excel and Visure. Briefly, what you put on the column names should match Visure system attributes like Code, Name, Description etc.
(Example: instead of "Name" on your table, you may have "Title" as you are free to name the columns as you want, in this case under "Name" part on the screenshot below, you should write down "Title" to match the attributes.)
If there are any user attributes imported, these should take place under "Custom Attributes".
Warning: Please ensure that the user attribute exists in your project before importing!
Click OK and the table will be parsed.
Click on "Compare Items" to finish the synchronization.
On the next page, you will be asked to connect your project.
There are 3 important aspects which need to be chosen wisely.
1- Specification: Since we'd like to import System Test items, the specification will be "System Tests".
2- Link Type: Traceability is between System Requirements and System Tests, and the link type between them is "verified by" in our data model.
3- Link Direction: Captured ones are System Tests (the ones we are importing) and existing ones are System Requirements, so the direction in the data model is "From existing to captured".
After selecting the correct elements, click on Preview to finish the process.
In Visure, go to the selected specification -System Tests- and you will see the imported elements with their traceability links.
